MISSION

PraiseMovies.com Mission Statement

Our mission is to allow people to share their views and opinions regarding movies that are either shown in theatres or DVD.  This way, people will be able to identify whether the movie being reviewed is appropriate or not.


Our goal is to seek fellow Christians everywhere and have them input their words of wisdom in our ratings and comments.  Please keep in mind that there will either be very conservative or very liberal opinions posted.

 

Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way. (Rom 14:13)

 

We would like to point out that if we throw judgmental statements at each other then we will surely make the devil happy and defeat the purpose of this site.  We must only bring to attention scenes in movies that are spiritually and morally inappropriate to help pre-warn our fellow Christians of such movies even though most trailers might seem okay.

 

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of Christian films out there. So we at PraiseMovies.com, would like to focus on reviewing both Christian and secular movies (since73% of main stream Christians and even Pastors watch secular movies too).  This way, they can choose which movies to watch with good morals and values.


“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive.  (1 Cor 10:23)

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Phil 4:8)

 

Here is a simple example of a children’s movie that most parents would think is great for kids:

This is indeed a good movie as it portrays different bad characters of different kids from different parts of the world and their contrast with one kid who was poor but had a good character. And it shows a keen sense of values and good morals. Definitely a good movie to watch especially for kids. Although, there was a particular scene for example where the Dad was working at a factory. He found a defective plastic part that was garbage so he decided to keep it for his son. But the way he portrayed the scene was he looked around and made sure no one was looking. The justification was that he was bringing it home for his son and that it was alright to take it since it’s a defective part anyway. But anyone that has seen the movie would know that what he did was an act of stealing. This would be a case of a bad character and yet at the end of the movie the kid with the good character wins.

 

So now the real question is how do we safe rate a movie? How many movies have we seen and ignored little misconducts like that? How many people saw that scene and yet never thought of it?

 

By sharing and posting your views and opinions here we can help protect our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and our children from movies that do not have Christian values. Movies are supposed to be entertaining and fun but it should also speak life and encourage the viewers. We hope that this site will be a blessing and a great tool for people to decipher which movie to watch in the future. As we believe, what goes in comes out. We would love to put something positive in people’s mind so as to help encourage people that they are around with and be bearers of God’s light to all.
